In recognition to the increasingly dynamic ICT sector in Southeast Europe, the Business Advisory Council for Southeast Europe (www.bacsee.net) of the Regional Cooperation Council for SEE (www.rcc.int) has established the ICT Forum for Southeastern Europe in 2006. The Business Advisory Council for Southeast Europe is an advisory body composed of some 35 international investors and business representatives from more than 20 countries, whose experience and activities span across a wide range of sectors which are key to regional growth and development. The aim of this Forum is to create an active communication channel and dialogue between the private ICT sector companies and associations and the governments of the region participating in the electronic South East Europe – eSEE, and broadband South East Europe - bSEE initiatives (http://www.eseeinitiative.org/).
The ICT Forum seeks to establish a permanent interaction with the Regional Cooperation Council for SEE placed in Sarajevo, BiH. The RCC is the successor of the Stability Pact (www.stabilitypact.org) that promotes public private partnerships in order to improve business climate and regulatory environment, facilitate cross-border trade and cooperation, and support national and regional ICT agenda throughout Southeast Europe.
The SEE ICT Forum Board is composed of ICT associations’ representatives from 13 SEE countries - Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania and Kosovo, plus Slovenia, Greece and Turkey - as well the active stakeholders of the Center for e-Governance Development.
The South East Europe ICT Forum Board (www.seeictforum.org) was established in May 2008. The Board will operate at the same time as a Private Sector Advisory Committee to the newly established Center for e-Governance Development (www.cegd.eu) placed in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
